For the next three and a half years, friends and family dismissed my interest as a "phase." Yet, the opposite occurred; my fascination only grew. Their music became my go-to for bad days, always bringing a smile to my face, and seeing their photos consistently lifted my mood. As cliché as it sounds, I felt a genuine connection with them.
On Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014, the news broke: The Wanted were taking a "break." I was on my way to the O2 Arena, eagerly anticipating seeing them live in just over two months. My emotions were already high, and the announcement sent me into floods of tears on the train home.
A week ago, on Thursday, March 27th, it was time to say a final goodbye to the people who had consistently brought a smile to my face, no matter my mood. The concert started with a highlight video showcasing the band's achievements over their four years together. Tears welled up in my eyes even before they appeared on stage! Their set opened with a slow version of "Gold Forever," with their silhouettes visible behind a white cloth. When the upbeat part of the song kicked in, the cloth lifted, revealing fireworks and transforming my initial tension into pure excitement. Sharing that palpable feeling of happiness with everyone in the arena was incredible.
These past three and a half years supporting The Wanted have been an unparalleled experience, creating countless cherished memories. Seeing how far they've come through the highlight videos shown during the concert intervals filled me with immense pride. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these five extremely talented lads.
